What better way to celebrate the 4th than with some patriotic food choices? Here are some of the things I will be downing today..........
RED:
I have discovered a delicious summer beverage; Sunkist Cherry Limeade. It is yummy, refreshing and best of all, it comes in a can or 2 Liter bottle! I like to pour it over ice and dress it up with a slice of lime and marachino cherries!
WHITE:
One of my favorite snacks is a salad made with mozzarella cheese slices, tomatoes and fresh basil leaves. Drizzle with a little olive oil and it is an elegant treat!!!
BLUE:
Oh there is nothing like blueberry season!! We have a "pick your own" blueberry patch near our home but you can even use frozen blueberries in this wonderful cobbler recipe. Top it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and wait for the fireworks!!
Blueberry Cobbler:
1-- 20 oz. can crushed pineapple, in its own juice
3 --cups blueberries, fresh or frozen (no need to thaw if frozen)
1 --box yellow cake mix
1-- cup butter, melted
2 --tablespoons brown sugar
1 --cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Layer, don't mis, the pineapple, then the blue berries and dry cake mix.
Drizzle melted butter over all, sprinkle with brown sugar and top with pecans.
Bake 40 to 45 minutes, until top is bubbly and cake topping is cooked through.
I hope you are enjoying lots of "goodies" this 4th of July as well. Have a safe and happy Independence Day!!!

I'm totally copying all of this today!!! Except the tomatoes cuz i ain't get nothin' that sounds like something the Israelites would've endured (Salmonella-sp?)had God thought it up BC!

Cute post... I must try the tomato and cheese.
Thanks for coming over to visit! I love to meet Kansans who bleed black and gold! We are huge Tiger fans! I am going to try that Cherry Limeade. It is my favorite drink at Sonic!
That cobbler looks so great! And it looks like an easy recipe for me! Happy 4th!

You can bet I'll be trying the cherry limeade...yummy!
Hope your 4th is a great one!
You are making me hungry!
My 'puter has been down and the one I'm borrowing at my mom's is slower than a snail.
I've never seen Sunkist Cherry limeade in 2liter or can. Of course, I don't cruise the pop aisle much since I only drink caffeine free and sugar free.
They do have a Crystal Light (Walmart generic) drink mix of cherry limeade and it's delicious and no calories. Yay.
I finally got my blog post for the 4th up. If you want to check it out.
Love,
Paula
Kelley, I used to make that blueberry dessert all the time, but had completely forgotten about it! Thanks for jogging my memory!
It all looks great!
Joy
