Sometimes a mom needs a translator!
Case in point, here is a conversation I had with one of my girls recently as we were driving to Walmart.
Daughter: "Mom, can we eat at that restaurant called "Terri's Poles" sometime?"
Me (afraid of what "poles" are doing in a restaurant): "HUH?"
Daughter: "You know, they are all over the place. There is one right over there...."
Of course some of my children suffer from "foot in mouth" disease (it's hereditary on their Dad's side). Several days ago the doorbell rang and this is what my sweet girl said to me:
"Mom, someone's at the door for you but don't bother putting on makeup, you don't have to look good!"
That same afternoon I had to explain to my teenage daughter:
"NO, you cannot get a tan by lying in the shade!"
There is never a dull moment around here that is for sure!
So now you know why I blog; it is so much easier than trying to communicate with my family! And it's where I find a little R.E.S.P.E.C.T!
Speaking of respect, today I want to say a HUGE "Thank You" to Amy at Signs, Miracles and Wonders for presenting me with an award (I can't think of my last "non blogger" award).
She thinks I am "Brilliante"!! I'm pretty sure no one in "real life" has called me brilliante recently!
Now I am supposed to pass this on to 7 more "Brilliante" bloggers.
However, I am going to cheat again and pass it to the first 7 commenters on this post (assuming of course there are 7 of you). In my mind you are all Brilliante and there is no way I could choose a favorite 7!
So if you are one of my first 7 comments make sure to copy the button and share the Brilliance with 7 more......

I love the things children say. too funny! One of my boys when asked if he was going to Louisianna ( he was on a missions trip) said, "No he was going to New Orleans." That might be my fault though as his teacher! LOL! Great post!
Since I do not have children yet I can not relate but I can only imagine!:) Kids say the darndest things is what I've heard.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Nicole
LOL! I love the things they say when they're young and the things they do when they're, er, having those wanting to tan in the shade moments. Kristyn was so excited we got a Taco Town when she was 7 years old. Hated to burst her bubble...it was a Tobacco Town, actually. Same child who plucked sesame seeds off a bun once at DQ to go home and plant hamburgers. Oh, bring back those days!!! I miss them! Only if we could skip the teen years, though and fast forward back to where she is now.
I already got the Brilliante award last week, so I'll pass it on to someone commenting under me.
Quick question - I see you have a designed by button on your blog - do you mind if I grab it and put it on mine since you designed it? I get so many compliments on it and would love people to know right off the bat that I couldn't do anything that pretty on my own - it's all you (and God's talent in you.)
Kelley, thank you for this post, it gives me some insight into my future with the boys!
Have a terrific weekend!
we always had to eat at "burBer king" - maybe they served carpet there?? :)
Kids are something else, right? We gotta love them! Oh, you can skip me for the award because for some reason I already got it. I wish my family thought I was brilliante, too! I love your heart, Kelley and I love your stories. Keep them coming!
Have a great weekend!
Love you,
Angie xoxo
p.s. BTW: I'm sure your friends and family in "real life" think you are absolutely fabulous!!!
Hey, girl!
I really do think you're brillant!! You can design precious websites!! Woohoo!!
I love the sayings of our kids. My youngest--12--was talking about the cost of gas the other day. He referred to the ethinol (spelling??) and the unleaded prices. Instead of pronouncing unleaded the way we all do, he said "un--leeded". That was a new one from little one!! Those are some of the precious things I love about children!!
Have a gret day!
Love ya,
Susan
The minds of children...how precious and unique. Thanks for sharing these moments as I enjoyed them. I love to hear what kids say as it does show how different their minds work.
Paula
I love what kids say!
I thought for sure I told you how Brilliant you are when I was there this week. My bad if I forgot. ;)
You're awesome too!!!
Love ya!

Who needs a comedy club when we have children?
And if you weren't brilliant, how else would you get the award? Bask in it for a moment :)
I'm glad to know that my children aren't the only ones that suffer from things that OBVIOUSLY come from their father's side of the family.;)
Kelley, you are absolutely Brilliante! :) Congrats.
Your kids crack me up...I'm can imagine there is truly never a dull moment.
There's never a dull moment this way either. Except it's all said with a southern accent. LOL!
Oh, the things kids will say - so innocently! :) I love it. And thank goodness for blogging - because now we can write it down and always remember these funny moments.
Have a great weekend!
LOL! Definitely a classic.
Congrats on your well-deserved brilliante award! = )
You make me laugh...really!
Praying things on the home front are living peaceful.
