13 Reasons I am Glad Not to be on Vacation In Florida This Week....

Today is Thursday and I am participating in the Thursday Thirteen meme. My "13" are my attempts to console myself over our canceled vacation. So here you have it, why I am glad to be in Kansas this week instead of on the beach in Florida:

1) My plants and flowers won't die from not being watered all week!
2) I don't have to kennel the dog!
3) I don't have to take a week off from the bible study I lead!
4) I won't miss a week of church!
5) I was able to have lunch with a girlfriend on Monday afternoon!
6) I won't have a mountain of vacation laundry to do at the end of the week!
7) My girls were able to participate in their golf league and scheduled ball games this week!
8) I have enjoyed visiting with friends at our neighborhood pool all week!
9) Sleeping in my own bed!
10) Home grilled Bar-Be-Que on the 4th!
11) I don't have to ride 16 hours (each way) in the car with 7 kids!
12) I will ingest fewer calories by not eating out at some over-priced, yet delicious, seafood place.
13) I have more time to spend on my blog!

OK, I would still rather be in Florida but I think this is a pretty good list. And my husband accuses me of being a pessimist??!!

For more fun on this Thursday check out some more lists of 13 here.

I am so sorry you don't get to take your vacation. Way to look at the positive. I thought of one more-I have a responsible husband who doesn't want us enslaved to debt!

Great list...we almost cancelled our plans for the weekend because of gas prices, too...instead, we get to do 6 hrs in the car with 6 kids...should be a blast!

Happy T13!

Way to look at the positives. Vacations are very nice but relaxation with no planned agenda at home is good too.

Have ya tried listening to those waves at your neighborhood pool? haha

Blessings,
Paula

Way to celebrate the blessings of staying home! I'm with the others...saving that much money seems to suggest at least a mini shopping spree may be in order...Happy 4th!

Kelley,

You guys are "in" because I just read yesterday on the net that lots of people are having "staycations" this year instead of vacations. The idea is to have fun "staying home" doing things around the area you live in and therefore you save gas money.

You are like, totally, with-it!

I'm so sorry that you had to cancel a vacation. What a bummer. But I'm very impressed with your list - good for you for looking on the bright side!!

Great list, Kelley! Take a bucket of sand and some jellyfish to the pool and you're halfway to the beach already...I know you miss the vacation, but it's good to know you have a positive attitude about it. *Hugs & Love* Laurie Ann

I'm sorry you are not getting to go away for your vacation. You have a great attitude Kelley. I'm staying home too, and I think I'm liking the laid back relaxing side of summer. There really is a lot of stress involved on a big vacation. Happy 4th. Kathi

Let's not forget the gas $ saved. Just think of all the trips to Target you can make.

Hmmm, sounds like a LOT OF GOOD reasons to stay home and just kick back.

Heck, vacations are fun, but they are WORK!! Now you won't have to spend a week getting "over" your week away.

So glad you seeing this was a good idea after all...

Hope you guys have a blessed day tomorrow♥

Way to be positive! Also-less aging on skin (intense sun), because it would be a shame for you to look 35.

Kelley,

I know you were bummed about missing your vacation but I was so inspired by your attitude and your list!

Life is so expensive these days and with an uncertain economy I think it's smart for all of us to cut back on extras and look for ways to make the most of where we are and what we have - like you did!!!

We've been talking about staying home this summer or doing a short weekend trip to the mountains or beach. I loved the one comment about a "Stay-cation" - there is so much to do in Charlotte that we've never done and we've lived her 13 years!!! First, I need to go to the mall you gals shopped at in Concord - of course that would require shopping money, so maybe not.

Praying for you and yours!

Hugs and blessings,
Renee
