Thankful for God's Protection.....

I am so thankful today for the safety and well-being of my daughter who is away at college. She safely waited out the storm last night as a tornado ripped through the middle of the campus at the school she attends.

Fortunately it was only structures that were damaged and no one was killed in this particular tornado but there are areas all around that are mourning the loss of life this morning.

"Thank you Lord Jesus for covering my daughter with your loving arms of protection. While I love her dearly I know that you love her even more. And while I know that I can not be there throughout all of the storms she endures in her life, I know that you will never leave her.

I pray today God that you will surround those who are grieving with angels of mercy and that they will feel your very real presence comforting them. Give them the strength that comes only from your grace as they press on in the days ahead."

I also pray that you have many reasons to be thankful today and every day. To see more of what other's are praising God for visit Iris at Sting My Heart.

WFW~~Where I Find Delight!

For the past 2 summers we have been blessed to visit Sanibel Island. The picture I chose to use today for Word-Filled Wednesday is one I took at our condo of the path leading to the beach.

I LOVE the beach & the ocean and I will miss going this year.

However, as long as I am walking in the path of His commands I will find delight in wherever He leads me.......

Check out more Word-Filled Wednesday posts at Amydeanne's site.

I was doing really well with my diet and exercise the past couple of weeks and then something very evil entered my home........

TSMS~~~Deal or No Deal?

Two shopping outings this week.......

Me- 1 pair jeans, 1 pair capris, 4 tops = $82.00

15 yr. old Daughter- 1 pair teeny weeny denim shorts=$32.00 Whenever I think about being at the She Speaks conference in North Carolina, only two short weeks from now, I get really nervous. And to calm my nerves I go shopping. This week God led me to some great deals, however I think my daughter needs a little more guidance, lol.

Anyway, I do know that all I truly need is God and I love this song because it reminds me that if I never bought another thing He is More Than Enough........

Enjoy your weekend and be blessed by more musical posts

Another Day, Another Soccer Post....

What I neglected to say in my last post was that I wouldn't be able to attend the State Cup semi final game due to another commitment. Although it was going to kill me to miss Cece's game, there was another girl and another game that demanded my attendance.

Last night was Sophie's end of season soccer party and that included the much anticipated "moms vs. daughters" soccer game.

I was a mom who desperately wanted to be in two places at once, but I knew no one else could take my place in this game. I thought of asking my Mom to play for me but figured that might not be a good idea since she just had her appendix removed (just kidding, LOL). Besides Sophie had been looking forward to "beating my pants off" for weeks and it wouldn't be the same to "pound" Grandma. No, there was no way I could let her down.

Then a miracle happened. Cece's game was postponed to Friday afternoon because of wet field conditions from Tuesday night's rain! Not only would I be able to play in the mother/daughter game, now I could go to Cece's game on Friday as well.

I just love when God shows up and works out my problems like that!!

So last night was all about Sophie! We played a "friendly" game of soccer (she seems fully recovered from the "accidental collision" we had on the soccer field) and we enjoyed lots of good food, fun and friends.

Now to show you how truly humble I am (LOL) I will post some pictures from the evening's festivities:

Me learning to head the ball (warning: this hurts if you don't do it right!), I told you this was humbling.....

Moms and their girls (Sophie and I are on the far left)......

Sophie and Coach Mandy (we think the world of them both).......

Oh yeah, the final score was MOMS=2 & GIRLS=3. Beaten by a bunch of 8 yr. olds, it's the story of my life!!

WFW~~State Cup Soccer

It is Kansas State Cup week and my daughter's team is playing in the 12 yr. old semi-finals this evening.

Cece is only 10 yrs. old but she plays on a U11 team that plays up in the U12 age bracket (did you get all that?). This means she plays against girls who are older and sometimes much bigger in size than she is but I have never seen her be intimidated or afraid. Even after taking some nasty falls and sporting some ugly bruises she eagerly jumps right back into the game. As her Mom it is such a blessing to watch her demonstrate what could only be a God given ability!

Good Luck Cece~~~Go Arsenal!!

Post Pressure......

AHHH! I don't even know where to begin. I haven't posted since Saturday and I feel so far behind! These blog posts can begin to feel like such pressure!! So here is a quick catch up......

It all started Saturday night when I got home from church with a migraine. I felt better on Sunday but the lingering effects lasted several days.

Sunday night I got a call that my Mom was in the hospital with appendicitis. She had her appendix removed Monday morning and fortunately the surgery went well so she was released that afternoon.

Monday night I facilitated at the bible study I beg my friends to do with me each Summer. This year we are reading "Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible." The book is great and the conversation was light and fun. Best of all I was finally feeling free of my migraine!

On top of all that weekend drama I did laundry, ran a couple of miles, cooked dinner, attended 3 soccer games, 1 basketball game, and helped a girlfriend design a new blog! (Be sure to check out Pamela's new blog look here).

So there you have it, why I have neglected my blog posts since Saturday. I did have to laugh when my Mom (who just got out of the hospital) called to see if I was OK because I hadn't updated the blog in several days.

As I read back over the comments from my last post I was so touched by all of your kind words and encouragement. What a wonderful place blogland has turned out to be. And although we may not have met in person (yet) I feel a strong connection with so many of you!! Thank you for all of your support and prayers, I am grateful!
