Happy Halloween!

Here is a "little known fact" about me. I LOVE to sew! I don't get to do it much anymore (in fact I haven't seen my machine in about 4 years) but together my trusty Kenmore and I cranked out some glorious creations, until I somehow ran out of time and creativity.

More than anything I loved making Halloween costumes. In the kids' elementary school I was known as the costume lady and every year I would spend weeks making costumes for my kids, my husband, myself and anyone else who needed one.

The beauty of costumes is that they don't have to be perfect (size is approximate, they fasten with Velcro...) and they are unique. When you make it yourself you won't find anyone else dressed quite like you are. Unfortunately I learned that making costumes doesn't save money. In fact homemade ones can cost more than store bought.

I know Halloween is a Pagan holiday with all kinds of wicked associations but I can't help it, I just melt when I see all of those little children in their costumes! In our house we like to think it is an innocent day when we can all let out our "inner child" and play dress up together!!

I have put together a slideshow of some of our favorites over the years........

What a blessing it is to be able to sew! We don't celebrate Halloween but we will got to costume parties and I too enjoy seeing the little kiddos all dressed up! Have a great weekend.

Darling!

There are wicked associations, but there are also good associations that have been made over the years to turn the tables on the wicked part! It can be a time for fun!

Wow! You are very creative and talented! I'm jealous. I started making a couple of princess dresses one year for my girls, and thank goodness my mom was willing to take over for me. LOL I loved your little elvis in the jumpsuit. Too cute.

OK...is there anything you can't do? These costumes are AMAZING!!! Where were you yesterday when my son informed me he had been invited to a costume party and needed a costume NOW!! I'm not very creative, but I was able to put together an "Indiana Jones" look, that I must say, came off rather well - and I spent less than $10.00 to do it!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Love & prayers,
Joy

Those were great! The only problem that I had was I couldn't keep track of which gradchild was which!? BUT they are all beautiful (and I am truly not predjudiced)!

Beautiful work on the costumes. I hope you plan to sew more often now. I am just catching up but I did have to tell you that I can so relate to being "over anxious" lately. Sometimes we go through those times of pruning and refining that we forget that they are also necessary processes to our growth.

You are so talented. I am not much of a seamstress but I always loved seeing the awesome costumes some of my friends could sew. Cruela DeVille is spectacular (excuse the spelling).
