Another Word-Filled Wednesday.......

I first memorized Philippians 4:7-8 several years ago in a scripture memory contest. I think I won a giant sized 3 Musketeers bar but the real prize was burying this verse in my heart. I can't tell you how many times I have come back to it.

I don't know about you but my life seems to be "extra anxious" these days: The election, teenagers, the economy, natural disasters, gas prices, teenagers, juggling schedules & deadlines, and did I mention teenagers (lol).... Not to mention that Satan is roaring around looking for a way to devour me and those I love.

What is a girl to do??? Thank goodness Paul has given me an answer: " be thankful, tell God all about it through prayer" and in return He promises "a peace to guard our hearts and minds." Sounds like a good deal to me!

Of course it doesn't hurt if you are able to pray for peace in a peaceful place (like at a lake retreat) but Paul is saying that God's peace is available in the chaos of every day life as well. That is really the peace that transcends all understanding and it is the peace that I need today!

Hey, Kelley! What a beautiful picture to go with beautiful scripture! I love the Ph. 4 verse. That was the first verse--besides the 23rd Psalm as a little girl--that I ever memorized. It is so important to hide His Word in our hearts!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!
Hugs,
Susan

PS--I truly want to know how y'all do this word on top of gorgepus picture thingie!! I would love to be a part of WFW, but I am clueless!! S.

How thankful I am for God's peace in the chaos of everyday life.

I'm with you on my life seeming to be "extra anxious" these days. I will rest in this promise.

I will second the extra anxious thing. I have to remind myself to stop, be still and listen.

Hey Kelly,

Oh boy, can I RELATE!! But praise God He gives us the VICTORY even in all these things.

I'm learning to be still these days. Gosh...you would assume I know by now.

Praise God for His mercies, new every morning.

Have a blessed day my friend♥

Amen!!! What an awesome photo you've paired with that powerful scripture...also one of my favorites. There is such comfort in remembering this, particularly at such an anxious time for our families and our nation. Thanks for this great reminder today!

Oh yes...I've been too anxious about so many things recently. I think I need to start praying for peace...and maybe talk to my hubby about going to a peaceful lake for awhile. :)

Hi Kelley this is such a wonderful photo and verse you have put together.

These verses became extra dear to my heart last month when my son was hospitalized.

The first night they admitted him I was reading the word and my heart latched on to these verses. In place of fear and anxiety the peace of God ruled my heart and mind throughout his hospital stay and in the midst of an operation as well.

God is so good.

Thank you for such a great verse.

Blessings,
Vickie

This is a verse I have been clinging to these last few days. I love it. Great picture to go along with it also, and I loved your thoughts on it. We can get so burdened so easily by all the circumstances we face, but the peace that is found in Christ alone...there is nothing more sweet.

That is MY FAVORITE VERSE!!! This verse is the verse by which my salvation experience became real!!!! It is too long a story to share here, I'll blog about it one day, but I just love this verse. Thanks for sharing.

Kelley, Phil. 4:6-7 were two of the first verses I memorized as a little girl. We had a "Promise" box at our kitchen table and we would pull out the cards and work on memorizing the promises. After learning this verse, my sister and I dog-eared the corner so we could find it easily so that when we didn't want to have to memorize something new, we'd "coincidentally" pull that verse out and just have a night of review!

I will always remember what I've heard Lysa TerKeurst share about that passage. It's the 4 little words at the end of verse 5 that enable us to claim that promise. "The Lord is near." It's because of His presence that I don't have to be anxious.

Love ya,
Joy

Your post reminds me of a sermon that was given by John Paul (I consider a mentor of mine) that talks about bringing Satan before God and telling Him how Satan is tormenting you. Since God is a God of justice He will bring justice to your situation...you just need to ask. God is waiting for you to bring Satan before the judge (himself) so he can declare him guilty and to bring justice to your situation.

Hope I didn't repeat myself too many times in trying to explain this. Love ya!

Kelley,
I believe many of us are feeling the anxiety of the days ahead along with life in general.
You are right, peace in God, from God is what we all need in the everyday, here and now things we face.
Thank you for sharing that scripture today.
